Malice on my Mind

On April 26-28 I attended the Malice Domestic Conference in Bethesda, Maryland! This is the conference where the prestigious Agatha awards, named for Agatha Christie, are handed out. There are six categories, and five nominees in each category. All the attendees get to vote; I read as many of the nominated novels in three of the categories as possible before voting.

I'm also pleased to announce that I appeared on a panel titled "Women's History and the Home as a Space of Secrets," and discussed my new Missy Jenkins mystery, Murder in Measured Time. As a piano teacher during the years1979-1980, in her small fictional neighborhood of Twin Pines, located in the real small town of Middletown, Pennsylvania, Missy encounters lots of secrets behind the seemingly quiet homes of small-town America. Secrets that lead to mystery, mayhem and murder!

The extra added bonus was be combining the trip with a visit to my family in Lancaster, Pennsylvania: son Bobby, daughter-in-law Paula, granddaughters Rhiannon and Sarah, and great-grandson Wesley. Although I've lived in Arizona for over 25 years now, I still consider myself a Pennsylvanian (just don't ask me to go back during the winter--I don't do snow!)
